Occupational therapy can be repetitive and boring.

Not with Dr Rachel Proffitt whose passion is designing fun games for stroke survivors.

As Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Missouri, her research focuses on developing, testing, and implementing virtual reality-based interventions for adults and older adults with neurological conditions.

She has extensive experience in interdisciplinary setting with computer scientists and engineers and was previously the Director of the Game Based Rehab Lab at the Institute for Creative Technologies at the University of Southern California (USC).

In this interview, Dr Proffitt shares her work and the experience that led her to become a passionate “game nerd” working for survivors.
